Design Process
Step 1
Integrated Design
Integrated design leverages the synergies across all mining networks. This requires a detailed understanding of the mine, infrastructure and services networks required for a robust mine.
These networks are matrixed with areas of commonality interrogated and then integrated into the mining system
Step 2
Mine Phases
Maximising re-use through the development, production and services mine phases. The use of development, infrastructure and mine services can differ depending on the phase of the mine area.
The mining networks are interrogated though the mine phases with areas of time-based commonality further integrated into the mining system.
Step 3
Enhanced Systems
Ensuring the current and future systems are cost effectively incorporated with design being the great enabling innovation for technology implementation.
Through the understanding of automation, electrification, monitoring, IoT and haulage alternatives many of the spatial requirements can be incorporated into the mine system without additional costs. This enables low capital cost transitions to future technologies, significantly improving the potential value of the Asset.
Step 4
Economic Zones
Aligning design to the changing financial drivers is critical to maximising value over the life of Asset. Thorough understanding of the multiple economic zones enables the most appropriate methods of extraction to be implemented for the Asset.
This results in improved reliability of the mining system and increased value of the Asset through the planned transitions of extraction methods and capital deployment.
Step 5
Optimised Asset
Realised optimisation through consolidation of the Design, Phases, Systems and Zones. The systematic process optimises the capital requirements and extraction methodologies while leveraging the mining system through low capital transitions for future technology implementation.
Design Green
Greening the design of underground mines requires maximising the electrification of the mine, however this needs to be underpinned by an automation strategy.
This has historically been cost prohibitive due to the additional development costs.
An Integrated design process is the answer.
Integrated design interrogates all the mine networks for synergies and maximises re-use of development through the different phases of an underground mine’s life.
Minext have developed a unique integrated design methodology for underground mines which unlocks value and moves mines significantly closer to being able to deliver on “net zero”
